| 9 of 10 people found the following review helpful  Thus far It does the job, By MikeTyson (NJ USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Genuine HP/Compaq 402018-001 Laptop AC Adapter Charger (Electronics) I'm not sure if this a genuine HP charger because it has a little green light, ( I'm not a fan of lights when it comes to electrical charges) but so far it does the job, now.... here is what you need to know just in case. at first this charger was getting very hot until I discovered that the extension cable was rated 10A-250V ( I think that's the standard voltage rate for China ) so I went to radio shack and bought an extension cord (about $8.00) rated 10A-125V, which is the standard in the USA, and now my charger does not get hot, only a little bit while its charging. In conclusion, I recommend this charger but DON'T use an extension that has a voltage of 250V because it can get very hot and do other damages like other reviews from similar charges have. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful  Didn't work for very long, By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Genuine HP/Compaq 402018-001 Laptop AC Adapter Charger (Electronics) Learned a bit from ordering this AC adapter for my HP notebook PC. The one that I was replacing had been working since I bought the PC a few years ago. This one only lasted about 2 weeks. When it arrived I was surprised that it was made by HP but not the same model # as the one that was advertised and that I ordered. I checked -- it was the same volts/amps/watts and the symbols for polarity were the same. It worked fine but then stopped a couple of weeks later.I ordered another one directly from HP and they also sent one that was equivalent but that was not exactly the same model number. I was disappointed to find this one causes interference with every AM radio in the house, while the original adapter did not have this problem. It worked out OK though because the laptop died soon after I got the adapter and now the laptop and adapter will be recycled. |
